Pulse App Overview for Learners
Brightspace Pulse is a mobile app that helps you stay connected with your courses by providing real-time updates on announcements, deadlines, and grades. This guide will walk you through how to navigate and use the Pulse app effectively.
Step 1: Access Your Courses in Pulse
- Open Brightspace Pulse: Launch the Pulse app on your mobile device.
- View Courses Tab: The "Courses" tab displays all the courses you are currently enrolled in. Each course is represented by a tile.
- Access Course Pages: To navigate to Assignments, Discussions, or Quizzes:
- Tap the respective icons (Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes) on the course tile. This will open the selected page in your device’s default browser without leaving the app.
- View Course Content: Tap on a course tile to view its table of contents. From here, you can select a module and explore its submodules.
Step 2: Manage Upcoming Work
- Tap Upcoming: To quickly see all upcoming activities across your courses, tap the "Upcoming" tab.
- View Upcoming Activities: A graph will display the amount of upcoming work at a glance. You can filter this view by selecting:
- Work To Do
- Events
- All
- Daily Summary: A summary of activities due each day will be shown, including the due time and associated course. To see specific activities for a date, tap that date on the calendar.
Step 3: Add Events and Work To Do
- Add New Items: To add your own events to the calendar, tap the "+" icon.
- Choose Event Type: Select either "New Work To Do" or "New Event." For this example, tap "New Work To Do."
- Enter Details:
- Title: Enter a title for the work or event.
- Course Association: Select the course the work is associated with.
- Due Date: Set the due date for the work.
- Percentage Worth (Optional): If desired, associate a value with the item (this value is for your reference only).
- Save the Entry: When you’re ready, tap "Save," and then tap "OK" to confirm. Your new Work To Do item will now be displayed in the calendar.
Step 4: Customize Your Graph Settings
- Access Graph Settings: To change the graph settings, tap "Settings" and then "Graph Settings."
- Toggle Event Types: You can choose which types of events to display by toggling them on or off.
- Set Start Day: Customize the starting day of the week for the graph display.
- Save Changes: Tap "Back" and then "Done" to save your settings.
Step 5: View Notifications
- Tap Notifications: To stay updated on grades, new or updated course content, discussion posts, and course announcements, tap the "Notifications" tab.
- View Grades: To check your grades, tap on the assignment title in the notifications list. To reveal your grade, swipe left on the screen.
- View Feedback: To see detailed feedback, tap "Open in Safari" or your default browser.
Browse Notifications: Continue browsing through announcements, grades, and other updates by navigating through the Notifications tab.
