How to Take a Quiz

Quizzes are an essential part of evaluating your understanding in a course. This guide will walk you through the process of taking a quiz in D2L Brightspace.

Step 1: Access the Quiz

1. Log in to D2L Brightspace: Start by logging into your D2L Brightspace account using your username and password.
2. Navigate to the Quiz List Page: From your course home page, click on "Quizzes" in the course navigation bar to see a list of available quizzes.
3. Select the Quiz: Find the quiz you want to take from the Quiz List and click on it to begin.

Step 2: Review Quiz Details and Instructions

1. Read Quiz Details: Before starting the quiz, review the Quiz Details. This section provides important information such as:
• Quiz Period: The time frame during which the quiz is available.
• Due Date: The deadline by which you must complete the quiz.
• Time Allotted: The total amount of time you have to complete the quiz.
• Number of Attempts: How many times you are allowed to take the quiz.
2. Carefully Read Instructions: The instructions may include critical details, such as:
• Whether you can navigate back to previous questions.
• What happens if you exceed the time limit.
3. Click Start Quiz: Once you’re ready to begin, click the "Start Quiz" button.

Step 3: Complete the Quiz

1. Monitor the Time: If the quiz is timed, the time limit and time remaining will be displayed at the top of the quiz. Keep an eye on this as you progress.
2. Review the Quiz Structure: An outline of the quiz, including the number of questions and how they are distributed across pages, will be visible. For example, a quiz might have 5 questions with 2 on the first page and 3 on the second.
3. Answer the Questions: Quizzes can include various types of questions, such as:
• Multiple-choice
• Short answer
• Essay
• Mathematical questions
• Enter your responses for each question.
4. Auto-Save: Answers are automatically saved as you progress through the quiz, so there’s no need to worry about losing your work.
5. Click Next Page: After answering the questions on a page, click "Next Page" to proceed.
• Note: If your instructor has restricted backward navigation, you will need to confirm that you want to proceed to the next page without the option to return.

Step 4: Submit the Quiz

1. Finish Answering Questions: Once you’ve completed all the questions, review your answers if time permits.
2. Click Submit Quiz: When you’re done, click the "Submit Quiz" button.
3. Confirm Submission: A confirmation dialog will appear. Click "Yes" to confirm and finalize your submission.

Step 5: Review Submission Summary

1. View Submission Summary: After submitting, a summary of your submission will be displayed. This may include information about your attempt, such as:
• Whether your results are available immediately or will be released later.
• How your Attempt Score compares to your Overall Grade.
2. Multiple Attempts: If the quiz allows multiple attempts, your overall grade may be calculated based on the average score, the highest score, or another method determined by your instructor.

Click Done: After reviewing the summary, click "Done" to return to the main Quizzes page.
