How to Grade a Discussion Post
Step 1: Access the Discussion Evaluation Area
- Log in to D2L: Start by logging into your D2L account using your username and password.
- Navigate to Content: From the course home page, click on "Content" in the course navigation bar.
- Locate the Discussion Topic: Find and open the discussion topic you want to evaluate.
- Click Evaluate All: In the discussion topic area, click "Evaluate All" to open the discussion evaluation interface.
Step 2: Apply a Rubric (If Available)
- Open the Rubric: If a rubric is associated with the discussion topic, click on it to open it.
- Assess the Discussion Post: Review the learner's discussion post and use the rubric criteria to apply a score.
- Confirm the Score: If a rubric is used, the total score will be automatically added to the Overall Grade field.
Step 3: Enter a Grade and Provide Feedback
- Manually Enter a Grade (If Needed): If no rubric is used, manually enter a grade in the Overall Grade field.
- Write Overall Feedback: In the Overall Feedback field, provide written comments on the learner's performance.
- Attach Feedback Files (Optional):
- Click the Attach File button to upload feedback from your personal device or cloud storage.
- You can also record and attach audio or video feedback for the learner.
Step 4: Mark Achievement of Standards (If Applicable)
- Go to the Standards Section: Scroll to the Standards section.
- Indicate Achievement: Mark whether the learner has met the activity standards as per your course requirements.
Step 5: Publish or Save the Evaluation
- Click Publish: If you are ready for the learner to see the evaluation, click "Publish."
- Click Save Draft: If you need to make further edits before publishing, click "Save Draft." The evaluation will be saved but not visible to the learner.
Step 6: Navigate Between Learners
- Use Navigation Arrows: To evaluate another student, use the left and right arrows at the top of the evaluation screen.
- Repeat the Process: Follow the same steps to assess and provide feedback for each learner.
Step 7: Verify Published Evaluations
- Check Completion Summary: Once an evaluation is published, the learner\'s score will appear in the Completion Summary section of the discussion topic.
- Review Evaluations: If needed, return to the discussion topic to review submitted evaluations and make any necessary edits.
