Patricia Cassin-Graft Student Teacher Assistance Fund Award

Patricia Cassin-Graft, Class of 1957, and Michael J. Graft, Sr. established the Patricia Cassin-Graft Student Teacher Assistance Fund at National Louis University in 2004. The fund is a permanent endowment funded by generous donations from the Graft family and other donors. The fund is meant to assist candidates dedicated to teaching in under-served schools, who face financial stress while student teaching, and who recognize the importance of the philanthropic values that have made these funds available.

The committee aims to assist outstanding undergraduate and graduate candidates who are completing the final term of their student teaching requirements. The fund does not provide cash awards. Recipients of the award receive a credit to their National Louis University account to offset tuition costs during their final term of student teaching. The fund does not cover student fees.

NOTE: Students participating in a Student Internship, Residency, Alternative Certification, or Paid Student Teaching Program are not eligible for this scholarship. Employees or their dependents receiving tuition waivers are also ineligible.

Announcements

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE ILLNOIS STUDENT ASSISTANCE COMMISSION REGARDING THE IL MAP GRANT FOR FINANCIAL AID FOR UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS:
On July 24, 2026, a federal district court ruled that undocumented students are no longer eligible to receive financial assistance from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) for the 2026-2027 school year. The court’s ruling is the result of the Trump Administration suing the State of Illinois to deny college access to undocumented students who have graduated from Illinois high schools. We know this court decision brings tremendous uncertainty and financial challenges for Illinois undocumented students. This is a developing situation as the state explores options and students and families should check back for updates from ISAC as they become available.
