Attending via Zoom

Overview

Zoom meetings are like virtual conference rooms, and each meeting has a unique link and ID number. To join the Welcome/Keynote panel and then participate in the Breakout Sessions, you will need to join and exit each Zoom meeting as you would a physical room.

To minimize issues with background noise, anyone joining via Zoom will automatically be muted. You will be able to hear everything but to engage in the discussion, click on the ‘Chat’ button at the bottom of the Zoom window and type in your question or comment. Throughout the Breakout Session presentations, an NLU staff member will moderate the chat and share messages with the group.

Zoom Information

  1. Click the Zoom link provided in your registration confirmation e-mail for the Welcome/Keynote (or above for the Breakout Session you wish to attend).

  2. You will be taken to a Zoom Meeting. A window will appear asking you to choose Computer Audio.  Click the green ‘Join Audio Conference by Computer’ button. You’ll be taken to the Zoom meeting window where you can see the presenters and presentations.

       For First-Time Zoom Users Only

    • After you register, you will be prompted to download the Zoom Launcher
    • Click on the link at the bottom of your screen to download the ZoomLauncher.exe
    • A Zoom installer window will appear. Give it a minute to download Zoom to your computer.

  3. When you are ready to leave, click ‘Leave Meeting’ at the bottom of the screen.

    • Repeat this step if you’d like to attend multiple Breakout Sessions.
