AI and Your Class

Artificial Intelligence is making its way to classrooms. This will bring many opportunities and challenges for instructors. We have created and curated resources to help you think through how best to implement AI as a learning tool. We see this work falling into three primary categories: (1) the work we do before the term to prepare ourselves and our courses, (2) the expectations we set with students, and (3) the ongoing conversations we have with students

Each box below will take you to a page of resources to support your work with AI in your course. Use info on the Prior to Term page to learn about AI tools, usage guidelines, and how chatbots work. Based on feedback from student focus groups, students are expecting their faculty to know the basic of AI and provide guidance on how those tools work. This page will help prepare you for those conversations and inform you on the types of AI tools that exist. It is recommended that you engage with these tools prior to the term to better understand how they function and the types of outputs they can provide.

Information on the Setting AI Expectations page will guide you through setting expectations of AI use with students.

Finally, the Reviewing Assignments for AI Use page will provide tips for spotting AI-generated material and guidance on approaching conversations with students and how to move forward after those conversations.
